DESCRIPTION:I will be hosting an African American Read-in at Cross Creek Early College High School. I will be reading Weary Blues by Langston Hughes\, Yellow Dog Blues by Alice Faye Duncan and Blues Journey by Walter Dean Myers. I will then discuss these readings with the students and compare and contrast similarities and differences\, reoccurring themes\, etc. The exact number of participants is unknown\, but it will be over 10 students.

DESCRIPTION:Reading event: The People Could Fly: American Black Folktales by Virginia Hamilton\, was read to a group of fifth grades which took about 20 minutes. We also had some group discussion about the book. As a whole we discussed the symbolism for the wings and how did the enslaved people lose their magic? Also discussing what to the enslaved people that were left on the plantation when Toby left\, and what will be the fate of them? \nEighteen students participated and was held in their media center.
