SUMMARY:Service Learning Project
DESCRIPTION:I read “Lillian’s Right to Vote: A Celebration of the Voting Rights Act of 1965” to my class (24 students). We compared the literature with the story we’re currently reading “The Hope Chest”. We sorted through the similarities and themes of the two stories using a Venn diagram. The frayer chart was used to learn unfamiliar words.

SUMMARY:Her Stories: Read in
DESCRIPTION:“Her Stories” by Virginia Hamilton is a series of folktales\, fairy tales\, and true tales told from the perspectives of African American women. It aims to showcase the diverse voices and stories of women from various backgrounds\, highlighting their struggles\, triumphs\, and contributions to society. This event will provide a platform for the storytelling\, empowerment\, and dialogue of African American women.\nI collaborated with three of my closest friends to help me set up this reading. There was a total of 20 people who listened to my reading.

SUMMARY:The Creation of Blues Redefined
DESCRIPTION:This event was held online via my personal podcast. I went live while and encouraged others to join me for the breakdown of this book. During this live video I posed a question to Black Americans about their view of society through their own lenses. We then discussed the influence of music on their experience. We elaborated on if todays music plays apart in their experience and how. This was interesting because I had a few individuals of a different cultural background who allowed a different perspective. I left the floor open for questions and allowed further commenting if anyone was interested after the live video ended.
