Every year, hundreds of celebrations of the African American Read-In take place across the country and around the world. These events feature the texts, talks, and discussions by and about African American authors and serve as a way to recognize and amplify their work.

Dixie State University Poetry Slam

February 11, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

We bring the Poetry Slam to campus to give students a platform to read poetry weather it be original or not. It is the moment to promote poetry and performances that will engage students on campus and people from the community. In regards to Black History we encourage participation from faculty and staff, students and the community to showcase there original work, African/ African American poetry and more. Come join us in celebration of creatively expressing oneself through poetry using the power of voice.
