African American Read In Day/Night (UMS-USD116)

February 24, 2021

School Day Portion: All students participated in a literacy-related activity highlighting an African American author during their Wednesday Social-Emotional Learning time.

Evening Literacy Event: Families were invited to attend an evening literacy event. Presentations provided by teachers and parents were shared including poetry reads, music lyric analysis, and read alouds featuring African American authors and artists. We even had poetry read that was written by our own students! All participants received a book written by an African American author of their choice!
