English Journal is NCTE's award-winning journal of ideas for English language arts teachers in junior and senior high schools and middle schools.
Announcing the Future English Journal Editorship Team
With great excitement, NCTE announces that Amy Burke, Aimee Hendrix-Soto, and Mary Amanda (Mandy) Stewart will serve as the next coeditors of English Journal, beginning in fall 2023. This team from Texas Woman’s University sees English Journal as an active force, offering teachers encouragement, examples, maps, and models of how to support students in the world, including addressing student (and teacher) trauma and an increasing recognition of how positionality impacts learning opportunities. Some other areas and topics of interest include antiracist teaching practices, translingual and transcultural literacy practices, critical literacy in politics and media, literacy teaching on climate change, and affirming gender diversity and inclusivity. Amy, Aimee, and Mandy envision EJ as a place for educators to share their vision, practical wisdom, and specific tools for how to do the very hard things teachers must do now more than ever. Their first issue will be published in September 2023.
