33 Snowfish

33 Snowfish follows three main characters, ten-year-old Custis, fourteen-year-old Curl, and seventeen-year-old Boobie.  These characters have all been plagued with a hard childhood and are, thus, on the run, trying to find a better life.  Custis, the youngest, does most of the talking through out the story.  He tells of his life with an abusive older man, hinting at but not deliberately stating horrible experiences with regard to sexual, physical, and emotional abuse.  Curl has resorted to using her body to make money.  She, too, is running, trying to leave the life that her aunt has encouraged her to lead.  Boobie, the oldest who rarely speaks, has obviously had a life of turmoil which is never revealed in the story.
