Grade Level:
Richard Peck’s novel, Are You in the House Alone?, is a well written novel capturing the horrifying and accurate details of a young woman’s attempts to emotionally survive a rape. The book is not sexually explicit as one might expect instead the novel encompasses the aftermath of the situation- isolation, guilt, and a corrupt judicial system which protects the attacker and not the victim.
