Arthur Miller
Grade Level:
The powerful universal dramatic impact of this play emanates, I believe, from Miller’s ability to examine the tunerican dream with compassion and understanding, and also witsh a harsh objectivity. The result is a play that is neither sentimental nor satirical, but essentially realistic, and that accounts for the uncomfortable feeling audiences often have that they are not just looking inside Willy’s head, but are also looking through an open window into their neighbor’s house.
