Eighteen-year-old Daunis Fontaine has spent her life existing in two worlds. Daunis was born to teenage parents, her father a hockey star from the Sugar Island Ojibwe Reservation and her mother from one of the most prominent and oldest families in Sault St. Marie. Daunis is an unenrolled tribal member who feels a strong connection to her Anishinaabe family and ancestral heritage.
