By:
Gary Paulsen
Grade Level:
The book starts out by briefly stating why the narrator has been bounced from relative to relative and ends up on the Larson farm for the summer. Paulsen doesn’t hold back in hid description of the narrators parents as “puke drunks” who quickly move through the “three phases of drunkenness: buzzed(happy), drunk (mean as snakes), and finally obliterated (Four Roses coma).”
