Perry Moore’s (2007) novel Hero, is a captivating read for anyone in ninth grade or older looking for an action-packed, page-turner. It tells a story about a teenage boy named Thom Creed. Thom looks like the average high-schooler, but he also happens to be the son of former superhero, Hal “Major Might” Creed. Unlike most teenagers, Thom has to live with his father’s haunting past daily, after his father was forced to retire after a tragic national incident. When Thom realizes that he has superpowers, it is just one more secret he has to keep from his dad.
