In the young adult novel Invitation to the Game, Hughes (1990) tells the story set on planet Earth in 2154 A.D., where the children are sent away to high school. Upon graduation, the children are automatically assigned a job or classified as an unemployed. Job placement is dependent upon whether the job is filled with robots or if human skill is needed to do the job.
