In 1982, the New York Times reported that libraries in Chicago and Milwaukee had decided to purchase only a limited number of copies of Margot Zemach’s Jake and Honeybunch Go To Heaven, a children’s book based on a black folktale. The San Francisco library system, according to the newspaper, refused to purchase any copies of the book.
