Ragtime is essentially the story of three families whose lives become interwoven: a white Anglo-Saxon, Protestant family (composed of a Little Boy, who may be the narrator, Mother, Father, Mother’s Younger Brother, and Grandfather), a black family (Coalhouse Walker Jr., Sarah, And their illegitimate baby) and a Jewish immigrant family (Tateh, Mameh, and The Little Girl). The time is 1906.
