Rainbow High

Rainbow High (Sanchez, 2003) gives the reader a look into the lives of three gay high school seniors in their quest for self-identity. The novel follows Nelson Glassman, Kyle Meeks, and Jason Carillo as they struggle to overcome adversity in their everyday lives at Whitman High School. Nelson wants to be in love so much that he has unprotected sex and exposed himself to the HIV virus. When he realizes that he does not have it, he understands that he must give up the one person he has loved. Kyle Meeks struggles with his college decision. He planned to go to Tech College with his new boyfriend, Jason, and best friend, Nelson. However, we he gets his acceptance letter to Princeton, he must re-evaluate his decision.
