Steffie Can’t Come out to Play is easy to read and could make a significant difference in the attitudes of young teenagers. The story addresses the plight of a runaway girl, so this book will probably appeal more to girls: especially those who are not affluent or those living in rural areas who might be tempted to run away from home because of their environments. This novel is recommended for reading by middle-school students, grades six through nine.
