The Bad Beginning is set in a nameless city in England. Three children, Violet, age fourteen, Klaus, age twelve and baby Sunny Bauldelaire are orphaned when their very wealthy and loving parents are killed tragically in a very suspicious fire in their home. The children, away from the housse for an afternoon at the beach, are informed of their parents’ deaths soon after by the ever coughing, Mr Poe, executor of the Baudelaire estate.
