Carla Wayland’s quiet town of Rachetville, Arkansas is jarred when a homosexual couple enters the community. Carla is on her way to Harris’ Handy Store so she could see the boy that she has had a crush on for years when she makes first contact with the two men. As she is primping in front of a glass, a friendly man makes a reassuring comment behind her. She feels instant friendship. Later, when the men are discovered as gay in the store, Carla is abhorrent of the way they are treated.
