Grade Level:
A lonely girl with a dreaded home life finds comfort in watching the “perfect” people on the beach while away at her parent’s rental house during the summer. Margaret likes to think of herself as invisible while she pretends she is a part of these peoples’ lives. She sits on the same step each day never stepping foot on to the beach while she submerges into her fantasy world. She never speaks to anyone, never plays with anyone, and never swims in the ocean or sunbathes. The longer she watches, the more fascinated she becomes.
