University of Central Missouri African American Poetry Read-In

Free

High school students will be lead by pre-service English teachers through the following activities:

1. Welcome
2. Writing into the day with a poem and writing in response
3. Rotation of poetry activities done. Activities will include: Poetry writing with popscicle sticks, reading bios of poets, choral reading of poems, and writing poetry with various kinds of guidelines.
4. Wrap up and farewell.
