African American Read-In at the Brookings Public Library

February 23, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

At this all-ages event, community members will read selected readings and excerpts by Black authors. This event will open with a “book tasting” where attendees will have a chance to mingle, enjoy refreshments, and browse books by Black authors from various genres. Readings will begin at 6:20pm.

The National African American Read-In was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). More than 6 million people have participated in this initiative. This event is sponsored by the Brookings Public Library and the South Dakota State University Hilton M. Briggs Library.
