Bells Elementary School African American Read In

It is with great excitement that we inform you about the planning underway for Bells Elementary 17th Annual African
American Read-In! It is no secret that February is reserved to celebrate the achievements of African Americans and a
time to recognize their roles in history. Bells Elementary chooses to celebrate by promoting literacy while acknowledging
those prominent contributors. We use the platform of The National African American Read In to honor those
contributors! The National African American Read in is not just a local celebration, but a national celebration; and we are
so grateful for all of the years you’ve donated your time to assist in this effort! Volunteers will come to our school on Friday, February 23, 2024 and read to our students. The African American Read-In will begin
at 8:00 AM. Our volunteers will visit different classrooms and grade levels sharing their story, poem, etc. to the students
of Bells Elementary School. We ask that our volunteers arrive early enough to visit our Media Center should you need to
borrow one of our books. Books will need to be returned upon departure and may be limited. We encourage you to
bring in something unique and interesting.
