Celebrating Community with Lakeside High School Through the Poetry of Amanda Gorman

For Lakeside High School’s 3rd Annual African American Read-In, the English Literature Department celebrates the electric emergent voice of Amanda Gorman in lessons that focus on her biography and the extraordinary accomplishments of her inauguration poem, “The Hill We Climb”, her Superbowl poem, “Chorus of the Captains” or others. All students (9-12) will participate in close reading, discussions, journal writing and creative writing focused on Gorman’s body of work.
