January 1, 2021 @ 8:00 am - December 31, 2021 @ 5:00 pm
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Eta Iota Omega Chapter presents Club 1908!
This virtual experience was created by our member, and sister, Rakiba L. Mitchell.
Ms. Mitchell states ” I wanted to create an experience that can be a source of entertainment as well as an educational tool. The Harlem Renaissance represents a piece of a very rich culture. It didn’t exist in isolation so I also incorporated other aspects of black history in order to offer a broader scope of understanding.”
This experience will take you beyond the Harlem Renaissance to the southern cotton fields—to the shores of Caribbean coasts—to the African shores through videos, articles, and vivid images. It will help to get a better understanding of key figures, their stories and their contributions to society.
The best part of this virtual experience is that you can choose your journey—all that is required is that you press “PRESENT” then use the arrows navigate through the slides. Remember that the underlines represent links. Please feel free to enjoy and share the experience with others!
Club 1908: A Harlem Renaissance Virtual Experience was created in support of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s Target IV Program: The Arts! , in tribute to Eta Iota Omega Chapter and dedicated in memory of Dr. Eva Louis Evans, 24th International President & 16th Great Lakes Regional Director.
The experience was researched, compiled and designed by Rakiba L. Mitchell, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Eta Iota Omega Chapter. Explore more about the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha.
