College Park Elementary African American Read-In

February 24, 2025 @ 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

Free

The 3rd Annual African American Read-In of College Park Elementary is organized by the school librarian, Dr. Margaret Boling Mullin, a National Board Certified Teacher. Invited guest readers include folks from district administration, community organizations (a church and a local Kiwanis Club), and other individuals from the community. These guest readers will share diverse and inclusive books by and about people of color. We expect to have enough volunteers that every class will have at least one and possibly two guest readers during the day, enabling children to enjoy the experience of listening to the compelling stories and biographies. Guest readers may bring their favorite books with them, and the librarian will also have a wide range of books available. Fifth graders in our school will have an opportunity to develop their leadership skills by acting as ambassadors, guiding guest readers to their assigned classrooms.
