Davidson College African American Read-In

February 20, 2024 @ 11:05 am - 12:15 pm

In honor of Black History Month, the Diversity & Equity Education Coordinator (Legal Services) invites the campus community to join an African American Read-In on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 11:05 a.m.–12:15 p.m. in the CTL Open Tutoring Classroom, E.H. Little Library. This event is a part of the National African American Read-In, sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).

Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend as a community presenter—sharing a 2-5-minute excerpt from a poem, speech, story, letter, song, play, or other work by African American, Afro-Caribbean or Black authors and creatives that inspires and connects with them in an exciting or moving way. Or attend as a community member—participating as a listener and simply enjoying the readings. Your presence and voice are desired in this space.

Program attendees are asked to register in advance by completing the registration form. Please RSVP by Feb. 10. Lunch will be provided following the event.
