Welcome to the NCTE event calendar! Here, you can find a list of events, including webinars, workshops, and in-person conferences. These events provide opportunities for English language arts teachers to learn new strategies and techniques, network with colleagues, and stay up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in the field.

If you have an event that you would like to submit to be included on the NCTE event calendar, please fill out the event submission form. To be considered, events must align with the mission of NCTE and be of professional interest to English language arts teachers. We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events!

Davidson College African American Read-In

February 19, 2026 @ 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm

In partnership with the Black Student Coalition (BSC) and the Library, we are pleased to host the 2026 African American Read-In taking place on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 4:30 p.m. in the Spencer-Weinstein Center for Community and Justice. Dinner will follow the program. All students, faculty, and staff are warmly invited to be a part of this community event!

This year’s theme, “The Sacred, the Seen, and the Silenced: Black Mythology and Cultural Memory,” invites us to explore spirituality, religion, and cultural and oral history through Black and African American literature and artistic expressions.

As a community readers, you can share a 2-5-minute excerpt from poetry, spoken word, speeches, stories, songs, or other works by African American, Afro-Caribbean, or Black authors and artists that connect with this year’s theme. Or feel free to share an excerpt from any work by a Black creative. If you prefer to engage as a supportive community member, come and listen, reflect, and enjoy the presentations.
