Maxwell’s “Cando Island” Reading Adventures In Africa

February 6, 2021

Maxwell’s “Cando Island” Reading Adventures in Africa is an extension of a virtual reading series that highlights readers of color coming into the homes and after-school programs in the City of Bridgeton.  Created by Karen E. Barnett, “Cando Island” is an “edutainment” format that engages participants in prevention, literacy, SEL and leadership activities that highlight growth Mindset, the possibility of yet and the belief that you “can do” anything if you believe and try.  We will be using the AARI to transport participants to Africa for their reading adventure with community members and teachers from the City of Bridgeton and the Bridgeton Public School System.  Recordings of the selected books will be available of the City Of Bridgeton’s web, Bridgeton Public Schools district site and the Bridgeton Free Public Library site.
