North Garland High School 3rd Annual African American Read-In
February 7, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The North Garland African and Black Student Union is hosting its 3rd Annual African American Read-In on February 7th at 6 pm in the NGHS cafeteria.
We invite you and your students to read or listen to impactful and moving literature written by your favorite African American and Black authors. In addition, enjoy performances by the NGHS Jazz Band, Choir, and Bar-B-Que from a local Garland food truck.
As educators, we know that representation matters. The African American Read-In is a groundbreaking effort that encourages our community to read together, centering African American books and authors.
To participate in the Read-In, choose an excerpt from a book, a poem, or an impactful piece of literary work authored by an African American or Black author to read. Alternatively, just come out and enjoy a great night of literary works by phenomenal African American and Black authors that elevate Black experiences and connect our community.
