Welcome to the NCTE event calendar! Here, you can find a list of events, including webinars, workshops, and in-person conferences. These events provide opportunities for English language arts teachers to learn new strategies and techniques, network with colleagues, and stay up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in the field.
If you have an event that you would like to submit to be included on the NCTE event calendar, please fill out the event submission form. To be considered, events must align with the mission of NCTE and be of professional interest to English language arts teachers. We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events!
If you’re hosting an event you’d like to share, submit your event here.

North Wilkes High School
February 1, 2021 - February 26, 2021
Students in Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Barlow, and Ms. Dancy’s English 1 & 2 classes will spend the month of February (and probably beyond because there was too much great stuff to fit in one month!) reading and analyzing poems, short stories, and excerpts from novels written exclusively by African American and Black authors and centering on African American and Black characters.
North Wilkes High School is part of the Wilkes County School District. Wilkes County is a large, rural county in the northwest corner of North Carolina. North High is located in a predominately white area (85% of the student body identifies as white), but it has a steadily growing minority population. We just learned about the African American Read-In this year and thought our students could definitely all use a change of pace and perspective that they might not typically get. We’re really excited to participate!
