Student Press Freedom Day: Agency in Student Literary Publications

February 22, 2023 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Join the National Council of Teachers of English and the National Student Press Association for “Agency in Student Literary Publications”, a webinar in honor of Student Press Freedom Day. Hear more about the Quill & Scroll International Honorary Society for High School Journalists and the NCTE Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines Award (REALM), and how you can support the creation of student publications.

This event will feature a panel of student journalists and their teacher/faculty advisors, as well as leaders of REALM and Quill & Scroll who will share their experiences, resources, and ideas about how to support student literary publications. Participants will also learn about submitting your publications to the REALM Award and Quill & Scroll contests and critiques.

Student Press Freedom Day (Feb. 23, 2023) is an initiative by the Student Press Law Center where students, advisers and press freedom groups work together to:

  • Raise awareness of the vital work of student journalists
  • Highlight how how censorship threatens that important work, and
  • Empower student journalists to take action to restore their First Amendment Freedoms.

NCTE and NSPA are proud to be Student Press Freedom Day Partners
