UNCW’s Annual African American Read-In

February 22, 2024 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us for UNCW’s fifth-annual African American Read-In celebration! The African American Read-In, established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English, helps make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. The event encourages communities to read together, centering African American books and authors. In that spirit, we are excited to announce that this year’s Read-In event will be hosted by the UNCW Laboratory School and community partner, D. C. Virgo Preparatory Academy. We are also partnering with local, Black-owned businesses to supply refreshments and give-aways at the event. The event is a partnership between UNCW’s Watson College of Education, Department of English, Randall Library, and the Osher Institute for Lifelong Learning alongside various community partners.
