Welcome to the NCTE event calendar! Here, you can find a list of events, including webinars, workshops, and in-person conferences. These events provide opportunities for English language arts teachers to learn new strategies and techniques, network with colleagues, and stay up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in the field.

Willow Hill Elementary School – Read-In Chain

Willow Hill Elementary School will be participating in the 33rd National African American Read-In. Since reading is a significant component of our celebration of Black History Month, Willow Hill will host a read-in with grades K-5. Our librarian first selects books by African American authors and/or illustrators. Students within grades 3-5 then choose one of those books to read aloud to a younger student in grades K-2.
Each younger class is paired with an older class. These classes are situated around the school to form a “human reading chain” from one end of the school to the other. The older students read to their younger buddy for 15 minutes.
