Resources and Tips for First-Time Attendees
We want to help you get the most out of your first NCTE Annual Convention experience, so before you pack for your trip, please take note of some important information for first-time attendees.
Attend the First-Timer’s Breakfast
This complimentary breakfast is open to all first-time attendees. Expand your knowledge of NCTE and your professional network, enjoy great conversations, connect with other first-time attendees, and learn about the Convention from NCTE leaders.
The breakfast will take place on Friday, November 17. Time and location to come.
Connect with Others at the Section Get-Togethers
The Section Get-Togethers are an amazing opportunity to meet other educators with similar interests! These events do NOT require a ticket or RSVP. Join us on Thursday, November 16, and Friday, November 17 (times and locations will be posted soon) for:
- Elementary Section Get-Together
- Middle Level Meet-Up
- Secondary Section Get-Together
- The College Celebration

Are you planning to tweet from the Convention? If so, don’t forget the hashtag, #NCTE17.
Plan Your Schedule in Advance
No need to wait until you get to St. Louis to plan the sessions you’d like to attend. The Online Searchable Program will be posted this summer. The PDF version of the Convention Program will be available online this fall. Our convention app will be ready to use a few weeks before the Convention.
Meet Your Favorite Authors
Many award-winning authors are scheduled to do author signings in the Exhibit Hall. A complete list of signings will be available onsite in St. Louis, and it will also be posted online this fall. Plan to be in the Exhibit Hall to meet your favorites!
Stop by NCTE Central
Visit NCTE Central in the Exhibit Hall to browse the latest publications and products available from NCTE. NCTE staff will also be on hand to answer questions about membership and more!
