Lift Every Voice: Through Images & Song

February 1, 2021

The entire district will engage in analysis of a photo essay created from images curated by Dr. W.E.B. DuBois in 1900 for the World Fair at Paris. 1900 was also the year that the Johnson brothers’ debuted the poem “Lift Ev’ry Voice” as a hymn/song for singing in schools and in honor of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. Our district will invite members of the community to watch and reflect on the poem as well as the music and images of the photo essay available online at tinyurl.com/aari2021final.
