Our records show that your term as Chair expires at the end of this year’s Convention. The Executive Committee needs you to submit no less than three unranked nominations for a new Chair.  An ongoing priority of the Executive Committee is to assure that NCTE's subgroups maintain representativeness in key areas (e.g., gender, people of color, elementary, middle, and secondary classroom teachers). Please consider these priorities in your nominations for your successor.  Specifically, please note: Please observe the Council’s Policy on Involvement of People of Color and include qualified people of color as candidates in your deliberations. In July 2019, the Executive Committee approved a policy to include classroom teachers in leadership roles and opportunities: To promote access to leadership roles and opportunities in policy making, the Presidential Team, Executive Committee, and NCTE staff will include preK-12 classroom teachers in all appointed groups as well as sustain its ongoing commitment to racial, cultural, and ethnic diversity. (Motion 2019:55). Please apply this policy to your efforts when providing a list of recommended candidates for committee chair.
