Take Action

We are the organization we are today because of the expertise, time, and energy of our members. What role will you play in moving NCTE forward?

Take Action

One of the benefits of belonging to a national professional organization is our strength in numbers. Collectively, we can work to influence national and state policy. Individually, we can use the expertise of our organization to support everyday advocacy at home.

These recommendations will guide our advocacy efforts for the next twelve months. Find out where we’re focusing our efforts this year.

2019 Policy Recommendations

When the opportunity arises for NCTE members to take action on a particular issue, we send out alerts that describe the issue and the messages we need to send in order to address it.

Action Alerts

ESSA implementation is ramping up in every state, and we have some resources to keep you up to speed on developments and ahead of the game in thinking through implications.

ESSA Implementation

If you are looking for guidance in tackling an issue in your school or community, this website created by NCTE member Cathy Fleischer offers a comprehensive set of tools to help you get started.

Everyday Advocacy

Once a year, NCTE members gather in person in Washington, DC, to push forward the policy recommendations crafted by our Executive Committee. Learn about this year’s event.

NCTE Advocacy and Leadership Summit

NCTE members volunteer as policy analysts and regularly share reports on the latest developments in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. You can get the latest from where you live here.
