High School Matters Presentations
On behalf of the Secondary Section Steering Committee, we welcome you to the Secondary Section’s High School Matters program. Thank you for your willingness to share your expertise with other teachers!
High School Matters encapsulates the best elements conventions often offer separately: collegial collaboration, relevance, and engagement. This fast-paced, interactive session will feature roundtables on a variety of topics.
High School Matters, one of the most attended sessions at the Convention, is a double session running from 2:30 to 5:15 p.m. on Friday, November 17. After opening remarks and a keynote presentation, attendees will break into roundtable discussions on a variety of topics of interest to secondary educators.
Because the format may be different from the one you listed on your program proposal and from typical convention breakout sessions, we want to make sure you know how the afternoon will proceed. You will present your information in a roundtable setting. Each proposal accepted for High School Matters will receive a separate table for discussion. In a conversational format, present your information and then allow time for discussion at your table. Attendees often visit multiple tables, so plan to present the basic information more than once.
Audiovisual equipment will not be available at each table. If you need to show something electronically, you will need to do so on your own laptop.
The Secondary Section is excited to have you join us for this innovative session experience. Expect to take home a variety of ideas, concepts, strategies, and approaches peer-to-peer.
