The Conference on English Leadership (CEL) invites NCTE members to join a virtual Social Hour kicking off the 2026 winter/spring semester. This session will provide an opportunity to connect, troubleshoot, and share strategies around literacy leadership.
These gatherings can be casual and relational while addressing the detailed work of supervision, curriculum, instruction, advocacy, assessment, and collaboration. CEL serves the important role of providing community and support for literacy leaders who may be the only English language arts department chair, supervisor, or coordinator in their locale.
At this event, literacy leaders will
- reflect on leadership and literacy strategies learned at the 2025 NCTE Annual Convention and the 2025 CEL Annual Convention,
- discuss how to launch and maintain initiatives within their teams, and
- network and join a community of lifelong literacy leaders.
Please contact profdev@ncte.org with questions.
