Bonds sold June 17 included $163,020,000 for higher education in Georgia. About half of that is for major repairs and renovations and the new Science Learning Center at the University of Georgia ($44.7 million). Also included in the budget is $4.4 million for future projects at Albany State and Savannah State, and $27.25 million for new facilities at Georgia Southern University and Georgia State University. The balance of the money will be spent to renovate existing facilities at 16 institutions around the state.
In addition to funding for higher education, $4.5 million has been allocated to design and construct or expand libraries in Villa Rica and Hoganville and to provide new technology for libraries statewide.
