Similar to Oregon’s Accelerated Learning Bill (see the Oregon policy analyst’s report of Feb 2, 2015), the Pennsylvania Senate is proposing a Task Force to look into more opportunities “that would address the need to close academic opportunity gaps for obtaining college credit, whether through direct college course attendance, successful advanced placement course work offered to the student while in high school or other programs that provide a student with the ability to obtain college credits while in high school and ultimately make college education more affordable in this Commonwealth.” (Senate Bill104). Such legislation is likely to impact first-year writing courses in the state education system.
