A bill introduced in the Georgia Senate, SB 384, requires a course of study in America’s founding principles and requires a passing grade in such course to graduate high school. While this bill does not (directly) relate to higher education, I hope that it will be looked at carefully, in light of what we have all seen is a (sometimes? often?) misreading of history and of our U.S. Constitution. For the full text of this bill, see http://www.legis.ga.gov/Legislation/20132014/139702.pdf.
The Georgia House of Representatives Higher Education Committee is meeting at 3pm today, February 25, to consider several bills related to Georgia Higher Education that may affect us. To see the agenda, visit http://www.house.ga.gov/Documents/Agendas/Higher%20Education/highered022514.pdf.
