The Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education has released their report, Top Ten Issues to Watch in 2015. This report may be accessed athttp://www.gpee.org/. The first two issues are high standards and assessments. The report is well-researched and documented.
Governor Nathan Deal in his second term inaugural address on January12 announced two educational initiatives. The first is to change the funding formula for schools currently using Quality Basic Education formula. His second initiative is for state takeover of failing schools and making them charter schools following a similar program in Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina.
Georgia also has a “back door” voucher program and a bill has been written HB 35 to increase the voucher program from 58 million to 250 million which would expand this tax credit program.
