Following the signing of ESSA into law in 2015, Ohio provided many feedback opportunities on plans for implementation in Ohio.
Incorporating the feedback from many stakeholders, a draft was made available in February 2017 for additional feedback and then a second draft was composed.
Addressing our current status, the Ohio Department of Education web page states the following:
Following a review by Gov. Kasich, Ohio will submit its ESSA application to the U.S. Department of Education in September 2017. As Ohio waits for final approval of its ESSA application, the Department will work with districts and schools to begin implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act during the 2017-2018 school year.
