The Oregon Writing and English Advisory Committee, or OWEAC, is a statewide group that seeks to provide a space for high school and college writing/English faculty to collaborate, share ideas, and establish recommended policies on issues such as dual enrollment, composition courseoutcomes, etc.
Members of the Committee include instructors and faculty from higher education institutions and high schools from throughout the state. Meetings are held quarterly at different locations in the state (however, high school instructors are not generally active in the organization).
Of particular interest is the OWEAC Policy Statement on Dual Enrollment (http://oweac.wordpress.com/public-documents/) from the college faculty perspective, including a recommendation to monitor class sizes (generally, a composition course taught alongside an English 11th grade course will have many more students than a composition course taught at a college).
