The US Department of Education awarded the Office of the State Superintendent a $20 million grant to support the development of new charter schools in the District of Columbia. OSSE will use the funds to provide 3 years of funding to new charters: 1 year of planning funds and 2 years of implementation funds. The grant has major implications for DC Public Schools, many of which are already under-enrolled.
