With a strike looming in just two days, teachers in Cleveland and the School District negotiated far into the night reaching a deal early Tuesday Morning, averting this action.
The newly negotiated contract must still be approved by both sides and no details of the contract have been released.
A joint statement was released which included the following:
Cleveland Teachers Union President David Quolke:
“We worked hard to avoid any disruption to our students’ education. We were able to bring back a contract that is good for kids and fair for educators – that our members will be proud to ratify”
Cleveland Metropolitan School District CEO Eric Gordon:
“We are pleased to take a contract to the board that both sides see as fair. And now, we must work beyond the bargaining table to breathe life into a contract that has, at its heart, what’s best for kids.”
