NCTE members interested in K-12 issues may find the Agency of Education’s weekly field memo to be a useful resource. The Agency sends this memo directly to superintendents, and publishes it on its website; it also makes email subscriptions available to anyone who is interested.
The weekly field memo contains information on “current education policy, state-wide education initiatives, and official messages from the AOE.” It may also include information from other state agencies that has a bearing on education.
The weekly field memo contained regular updates on opportunitiesfor public input on the state’s plan to respond to the Every Child Succees Act (ESSA). In 2017, the memo has included information on writing conferences, faculty professional development opportunities, and restorative justice. Weekly content varies, but the organization of the field memo permits easy scanning. NCTE members who subscribe will have access to the latest announcements from the AOE in a convenient format.
