After Oklahoma rescinded the Common Core, the state department of education posted OK standards that were identical to the language arts standards in the Common Core. Subsequently, the state reverted to the PASS standards, which were the original state-centric standards created in response to the No Child Left Behind Act.
Last year, the state said that it would create its own NEW standards, neither based on Common Core or PASS and get them up and running by the end of this year. As a result, through the efforts of a large team of teachers, teacher-educators and administrators, the third draft of the state language arts standards are set to be finalized.
Thus, the the last five years, the state’s standards have been PASS, Common Core, State version of the Common Core, PASS (again), and now the new Oklahoma Language Arts Standards.
