Senate Bill 183, also known as “The Tuition Equity Act” will offer eligible undocumented students the ability to qualify for in-state tuition and fees for college admission to Delaware’s three state institutions: Delaware Technical Community College, Delaware State and the University of Delaware. The instate tuition would apply to those students who came here before the age of 18 and who are currently 18-35 years of age.
The bill is currently being considered by the Senate Education Committee. If it passes the new bill may affect admission and perhaps the service courses such as basic writing and first-year composition if there is an influx of new students. At the University of Delaware the policy has been in place for more than a decade, but the funding was not controlled by the state.
